Construction of 1.5 Lakh Houses for Urban Poor Approved by Centre

The Housing and Urban Affairs (HUA) Ministry said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the government has approved the construction of 1.5 lakh houses for the poor that will take the tally to 47.52 lakh.

The addition of 1.5 lakh houses is expected to set the center back by around Rs. 7,227 crores. The maximum number of houses will be constructed in Andhra Pradesh at 56,512, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 23,060 and Madhya Pradesh at 17,920.
