Companies Receiving Notices for Mismatched GST Returns

As the revenue authorities have detected an overall GST underpayment of 34%, they have started sending notices to the companies whose tax payments don’t match the final GST returns.

The department said that the GST collection is nearly Rs. 34,400 crores short of the actual amount as ascertained by the final summary return GSTR-3B.

The notice says that if no explanation regarding the payment mismatch is given, the companies will be prosecuted as per the provisions of the law. They have been given 10 days to make their case.
