Centre to Double Edible Oil Production to Limit Import Dependence

In a bid to reduce India’s dependence on edible oil imports, the NDA government has prepared a 5-year plan for doubling the edible oil production in the country through expansion in yield and the sowing area. The target is to achieve an annual oil production of 13.69 million tonnes by 2022 compared to the 7.31 million tonnes at present, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
