Bill Providing 10% Reservation to Financially Weak Job Seekers Passed in Lok Sabha
January 10, 2019
After a long and heated debate that lasted for over four hours in the parliament this Tuesday, a constitutional amendment bill was eventually passed that aims at providing 10% reservation in government jobs to the “financially weak” individuals belonging to the general category. Although the ruling NDA party called it a historic moment, opposition dubbed it a mere political gimmick.
The reservation bill was passed this Tuesday as 323 members of the parliament voted in support of it and only 3 voted against it. It will be again tabled in the Rajya Sabha today.
