Bank Unions Announce Two-Day Nationwide Strike from May 30

Officers and employees of various public sector banks (PSBs) have called for a 2-day strike all across the country from May 30 in view of the meagre 2% wage hike offered by the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) earlier this month.

In a meeting with a top banks’ union on May 5, IBA agreed to increase the average pay of the employees by 2%, a move that immediately drew flak from the banking employees.

United Forum of Bank Union’s chief Devidas Tuljapurkar said that the staff of PSBs has worked hard over the last 2-3 years because of demonetization, Mudra Joyanana, etc. and they deserve a better pay.
