India’s largest healthcare program Ayushman Bharat which was launched on September 25 has aided close to 600,000 beneficiaries so far. The scheme is accessible to 3 million financial weak individuals with the 3 million beneficiary e-cards that have been issued.

A government statement said that more than 16,000 hospitals are either empaneled or in the process of empanelment under the scheme, and more than half of these are private hospitals. It also said that the scheme looks to cover 500 million people under its ambit.

The top three healthcare packages offered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme are vascular and cardiothoracic procedures, coronary artery bypass graft, and valve replacement, and make for around 37% of the total admission amount.
