As Center Denies Tax Credit, Exporters Move to High Court

Many exporters who had imported raw material for exporting while availing duty-free benefits have filed a writ petition in the Delhi High Court after the Central Government refused to give clearance to their pending tax credits.

Earlier, the exporters would import raw material, pay taxes on them, and export the final products for profit. If any raw material was left which they couldn’t use, they had the option to get credit for the same. However, the government amended the GST laws recently which bars them from taking that advantage. As a result, they are now seeking intervention from the High Court.
