Approval of New Telecom Policy Expected by July End

Communications Minister Major Sinha said that the new telecom policy is expected to get approval from the Union Cabinet by the end of July.

Sinha said that the government rolled out a National Digital Communications Policy (NDCP) recently which aims at providing assess to download speeds of 50 Mbps in every corner of the country. He said that it will attract an investment of around Rs. 6.5 crores which will create more than 4 million jobs.

Sinha, who was talking about the various achievements of the NDA government also brought up India Post payments bank. He said that the department is awaiting clearance from the central bank RBI for 650 branches that will be gradually connected to all 1.5 branches in the India Post network.
