600,000 Women Self-Help Groups to Receive Smartphones in Odisha

In what’s certainly a welcoming move that encourages women empowerment in India, the Odisha government has announced that it will distribute smartphones to all 600,000 women self-help groups under Mission Shakti in the state.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that women have come a long way today and with digital empowerment, they will reach newer heights in socio-political and economic domains.

Mission Shakti is a women empowerment scheme that was launched in 2001. It helps in the creation and development of women self-help groups and offers financial assistance to women whenever necessary.
