3rd Tranche of Electoral Bonds on Sale from May 1

Public sector State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to issue electoral bonds through its 11 select branches between May 1 and May 10 as part of the 3rd phase of the sale, the finance ministry said. These branches are located in Guwahati, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, New Delhi, and Chennai.

Electoral Bonds were introduced by the government earlier this year as an alternative to cash donations for political parties as a way to improve transparency in political funding. These can be bought by both the residents as well as entities based in India.
