300 Million Poor Brought Under Banking System with Jan Dhan Yojana

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) helped in bringing around 300 million people from the financially weaker sections of the society under the banking system, State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Rajnish Kumar said. He said that 32% of the total accounts are under SBI today. 

Kumar said that the bank is now observing the benefits of ₹280 billion that have been deposited under the scheme so far. 

PMJDY was launched by the Central Government on August 15, 2014, to promote financial inclusion in India.
