$2.6 Trillion, 5% of Global GDP is the Cost of Corruption Today, Says UN Chief

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, who is holding the Presidency of the Security Council, hosted a council meeting on corruption recently. During the briefing, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged the leaders to work towards containing corruption and tax evasion. He said that corruption is costing at least 2.6 million US Dollars, which is roughly 5% of the global GDP. He also said that individuals and businesses pay more than 1 trillion US Dollars in bribe each year.
