19 cr Indians Adults Don’t have Bank Accounts
April 24, 2018
As per the recent Global Findex Database updated by the World Bank, there are nearly 19 crore Indian adults don’t have bank accounts. While it certainly is a matter of concern, it also raises questions over the ambitious Jan Dhan Yojana project of the government that aimed at financial inclusion.
The World Bank data also reveals that as many as 50% of the bank accounts were inactive during the previous year. However, around 31 crores Indians were brought under formal banking system with the help of Jan Dhan Yojana.
