What do Organizations Look for When Hiring a Candidate?
July 10, 2018
You work hard to get into a good college, and then to get good grades. However, all these efforts can go in vain if you fail to get a job that meets your expectations. So, how do you ensure that you do well in job interviews and convince the recruiters to give you a place in their company?
The following are some of the key factors that organizations look into when hiring new talent:
- Grades
The first thing a recruiter looks into when interviewing a candidate is their grades. It’s natural- when they know nothing about a candidate, they have to “judge the book by the cover”. - Skills
Having high grades can present a good profile. However, that’s not enough. The recruiters also want to ensure that the candidate has the skills they seek. These could be strictly related to the job such as programming, web designing. etc. or others that can add value to the organization such as communication skills, problem-solving capabilities, etc. - Personality and Attitude
A warm personality and positive attitude are some of the qualities the organizations want in all of their employees. After all, no one wants a professional who refuses to abide by the company culture or likes to cut corners. - Industry Experience
Most organizations steer clear from freshers because they don’t want to invest time and money to train them to get started. Instead, they seek candidates who have at least a few months of experience in the industry. Training these candidates is easy and in some cases not even necessary. - Leadership Quality
The top corporates want employees who don’t just follow orders and like to be pigeonholed. They seek creative individuals who know how to take control and go out of their way to contribute to the company they are working for.
