Top Tips for Cracking CAT 2018
One of the biggest entrance exams for the top B-schools i.e. CAT 2018 will be conducted on November 25, 2018. There are more than 4 months remaining for the same which is enough time for good preparation.
The following are some of the best tips to follow for cracking the CAT this year:
1. Time Management
There are so many questions in CAT that you will never have enough time to answer them all successfully. Thus, time management is extremely important.
When preparing for CAT at home, always use a timer alongside so that you can simulate the environment you will get when giving the actual exam. You should also time your questions in a way that you are able to attempt at least 75% of them before the time is over.
2. Memorizing the Mathematical Formulae
There are two main things to learn for the math questions- the underlying concepts and the mathematical formulae required to solve the problems. However, it’s not important to memorize all the formulae in the first few months. Instead, you should use this time to master the concepts used. The formulae you can cram in the last month.
3. Logical Reasoning(LR) and Data Interpretation (DI)
The key to solving the LR and DI section quickly is giving as many mock tests as possible before the actual exam. This is because once you have familiarized yourself with certain types of questions, which you will find them in the CAT too, you will already know the right steps to solve the same.
Finally, keep the following things in mind:
● Allocate more time to the sections you are weak in. Also, work on these before you get to the sections that you are good at.
● Don’t try to learn new concepts when only 2 weeks are left for CAT.
● Instead of spending hours on just one topic, study different topics every day to avoid losing interest and focus.
