Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world. Although it’s widely used by individuals who want to stay connected to their friends and family, it’s also a powerful marketing channel for advertisers, marketers, and small business owners. 
If you want to advertise on Facebook, then make sure you keep the following points in mind:

Market Understanding
Facebook has over 1 billion active users, and you can’t possibly sell to all of them. Thus, you must a good understanding of your target demographic. It should be based on factors like location, age, gender, etc. 

Facebook direct advertising system gives you many options to display your ads to your target audience. However, you can’t use it to its full potential unless you understand the market yourself.

Don’t Expect Instant Results
Facebook marketing is essentially relationship marketing which usually does not provide quick results. This is because only a small portion of the users are ready to purchase from you when browsing the platform. The majority of them do plan to buy, but in the future. So, you should not expect results as soon as you start marketing. Instead, you should focus on building relationships and creating a positive brand image. This way, when the time comes, your leads will convert into paying customers easily.

Monitor and Adjust
One of the biggest advantages of digital marketing is that it gives you measurable results. So, if you are engaged in direct marketing, you can measure the success of your campaign on the basis of cost per action (CPA) and click-through rate (CTR). etc. Similarly, if you are working on indirect marketing, you can monitor your campaign’s performance on the basis of the “likes” and “comments” your posts have received. You can analyze the data of these metrics to learn what’s working for you and what’s not and modify your campaigns accordingly.
