Launching a New Brand: Here’s all You Need to Know
December 08, 2018
This is the age of startups and entrepreneurs where new businesses face massive competition on a daily basis. However, you can fight your rivals with more finesse by thinking beyond just setting up an organization i.e. by building a brand instead.
What is the Difference Between a Company and a Brand?
A company is an organization that develops and sells products and/or services. However, a brand is the personality of a company which defines its values, mission statement, and its emotional connection with the customers.
If you want to create a business that makes a difference in the world and has a far-reaching impact on the customers, then you need a powerful brand. The following are some tips that should help:
Know Your Audience
A brand is always “for” the customers. Thus, it makes sense to understand exactly what your target audience wants before you start working on the brand. You must have clear answers to questions like:
- What’s the average age of my customers?
- Where are most of my customers located?
- What kind of activities do my customers like?
Study Your Competition
No matter what kind of brand you want to create, one thing that you must remember is that it has to be unique. You don’t want to create a brand that’s similar to your competition as that can lead to failure rather quickly. Remember, the whole point of building a brand is to show why you are different from your competition, i.e. to show the various aspects of your business that make it the best in the industry.
So, you want to study other brands in the market to ensure that you don’t mimic what they are already doing.
Do the Work
The actual work of branding begins with designing a unique logo that encompasses your brand values and mission statement. Other important elements that you need to decide include your brand’s colour palette, voice, and the general tone of communication (formal, casual, funny, etc.).
Creating a new brand may seem like a daunting task, as there is so much involved in the process. However, if you spend enough time on planning, you can make the execution a lot simpler and easier.
