How to Shortlist Colleges for MBA?
December 15, 2018
MBA programs are highly popular across the world. However, they aren’t cheap and they are important to your career. Thus, it’s only fair that you shortlist business schools on the basis of facts rather than your instincts and general understanding.
Let’s take a look at some of the most important facts that you should consider when finalizing an MBA Institute:
Location
Since you are going to spend at least 2 years at the business school of your choosing, you must choose the location wisely. Although it shouldn’t be a big problem if the institute is located anywhere in India, for if it’s located in a foreign country, then you must factor in various costs including accommodation, food, etc. which can be quite expensive compared to India. Plus, you should be willing to adjust into a new culture. That said, an MBA degree from abroad often has way more value than an MBA degree from India.
Tuition Fee
Even if you are taking an education loan, you should definitely consider the tuition fee of the college you are interested in. In India, MBA programs can cost anywhere from ₹30,000 to ₹40,000 to as much as ₹50 lakhs to ₹60 lakhs. Some of the lowest fees are offered in the following colleges:
- FMS College, Delhi- ₹25,000
- Department of Financial Studies (DFS), DU- ₹26,000
- Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai- ₹1 lakh
Placement Records
If you want to ensure that you are able to get a decent job after you obtain your MBA degree, then make sure that you check the placement records of the colleges and see what kind of companies have hired from their campuses and what were some of the highest packages that were offered.
Faculty and Campus Environment
To get the best education, you need the best teachers. You also need a nurturing and positive academic culture. So, make sure you research about these factors too.
Selecting the perfect MBA college for yourself can be tricky, but if you do your research in advance, then the process can be made simpler. Good luck!
