Different Types of Leaders in the Corporate World

Most people think of a leader as an authoritative figure who gives direction to their team/followers. However, research has identified various types of leadership styles that are possible. The following are some of them:
Democratic Leadership
In this type of leadership, the subordinates are involved in the decision-making process. Although it’s the leader who actually makes the decisions, they allow everyone to have a say in it. Thus, the overall direction that the organization has is based on the majority-rule.

Autocratic Leadership
Unlike democratic leadership, autocratic leadership puts emphasis on the leaders themselves. So, the boss exercises supreme authority and makes decisions as he sees fit. In this type of leadership style, there are usually certain protocols and policies that are followed in a stringent manner so that the organization doesn’t go awry.
Transformational Leadership
Transformational leaders work to bring a positive change in their organization. They help and motivate others to be the best version of themselves and make changes to the organization to create a nurturing environment in which the subordinates can learn and grow.
Transactional Leadership
Transactional leaders are result-oriented and focus on balancing work and reward to get the desired results. Although they often lack in charisma that’s particular to transformational leaders, they do understand how to incentivize employees to lead the company forward.
Visionary Leadership
A visionary leader is someone who isn’t afraid to take bold decisions. They are the trendsetters and innovators who turn ordinary products and services into extraordinary masterpieces by harnessing the potential of their followers and creating plans that are big yet viable.
