However, today, digital marketing has become one of the most effective forms of marketing and created jobs like social media manager.
There is a huge demand for social media managers today and the salary packages offered are also quite high. The question is- what skills do you need to pursue a career in the same? Let’s take a look at the top 5 of them.
1. Community Management
It goes without saying that social media marketing has a strong “social” element associated with it. Thus, you must understand how communication works on the social media platforms, how to acknowledge positive feedback and manage online trolls, etc.
2. Writing Skills
You must have a flair for writing if you want to want to create viral tweets and Facebook posts. On the other hand, if your grasp on the basic fundamentals of the English language is weak, then your content may have grammatical or syntax errors that reflect poorly on the brand you are promoting.
3. Analytics
Most of the professional social media managers use analytics tools to monitor the social media campaigns. They compare the results of different types of content through the number of retweets, likes, shares generated, etc. and then modify the campaign to increase engagement. Thus, you must be good at analysing reports and statistics.
4. People Skills
A large part of your job is to engage with the customers, address their concerns, thank them for their comments, etc. So, you must essentially be a people person to create a positive image of your brand on the social media.
5. Graphics Designing
If you are good with graphics designing and are familiar with the fundamentals of standard software like Canva or Photoshop, then this skill alone can improve your resume to a huge extent. This is because social media marketing usually involves sharing a lot of appealing and creative images on the social media platforms.
