General Elections 2019: Rahul Gandhi Promises ₹6,000 Minimum Income for the Poor if Voted to Power

As the general elections are nearing, the political parties are leaving no stones unturned to woo the voters. In one of the recent developments, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has announced a minimum income guarantee scheme under which the poorest families in India will receive ₹6,000 per month.

The scheme Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) which Gandhi dubs as the “final assault on poverty” will benefit 20% of the poorest in the country, he said. He said families that are earning less than ₹12,000 per month will be eligible for this scheme and receive ₹6,000 directly into their bank accounts every month.
